Garden status

The garden is greening up with recent rains. Here's a brief selection.

Chlorogalum pomeridianum "Soaproot" (foreground) and Solidago californica "California Goldenrod" (background)

Erysimum capitatum ssp. capitatum "Western Wallflower"
Western Wallflower.  There's three and the best and worst performing are shown here.

Cirsium occidentale "Cobweb Thistle"
Cirsium occidentale "Cobweb Thistle".  The best of the three I have planted.

Asclepias sprouting out.  Weed at right got pulled.

  1. Always treated the cobweb as an invasive weed that must be pulled from the garden. Here you are planting them! Will have to have a rethink on this, likewise with the Wallflower.
We're (-18C) here and I am patiently waiting for my plants to break ground next month.

  2. I'm sure I'd treat them as weeds too if I lived in Canada.

Wait until you see my thistle poppy ;-)
