@Laguna - I think that the residents do eat the produce. I don't know this for certain, but it would seem odd otherwise.
@chuck b. - Access is through the Salvation Army building interior, so it's not a public space unless you run the Salvation Army gauntlet. On the day I visited, it was a matter of asking politely and, perhaps, of having volunteered in the kitchen for a morning.
